The bridge was south of Pacific on what became State Route F, know locally as the "Farm-Market Road" between Pacific and Catawissa.
The pier marks the line between Franklin County to the left and Jefferson country to the right, that is why the bridge is built of two different materials. Jefferson County later rebuilt their half in steel.
The river bottom is on the Franklin County side. The bridge was built into the bluff on the Jefferson County side, with the roadway on a narrow ledge (requiring a 90-degree turn to the right at the east end of the bridge). This roadway extended south a good distance before a sharp turn to the east. What was also "lost" was the beautiful stonework that the WPA built along this roadway, like a guardrail, to keep cars from tumbling into the river. Why no one tried to save that when they knew the entire bridge was going to be replaced is one of those bureaucratic mysteries. The new highway bridge is to the south.
