Bridge is now reduced to two lanes and is under demo by contractor JH Reid.

NJDOT is replacing bridge with a 65 foot fixed span bridge due to be completed in 2011.

Cost of new span is $125 million

Three live webcams are online to watch traffic on the span.

The state of NJ is currently planning to destroy this bridge and replace it with a 70' high fixed span bridge.

Local citizens are opposing the plan, favoring repairing or replacing the bridge in its current form.
