We visted the Loyal-Dover Bridge in May 2008. It has been replaced with an ugly concrete bridge. Very sad to see.

Once again I question which bridge is the origional merdian bridge. Was it the Gould Bridge east of Kingfisher or the Dover Loyal Bridge NW of Kingfisher (this is the one I belive to be the origionla meridian bridge)
Again my question is when was the bridge crossing the Cimarron river that today is almost straigth nort of Kingfishe built?

I am doing research on the Merdian highway and came across your web page. I belive that the bridge built in 1918 over the Cimarron was the Gould Bridge that is located in R. 5W. - T. 17 N. Section 30 and got it's name from the Gould family that owned the land on the south side of the river.
There is also the Dover Loyal bridge that is located R. 7W - T 17 N. Sec 5 this was origional (81) merdian bridge
and Current 81 bridge R7w - T17N Sec. 17
I am pretty sure this is the bridge you are describing. My wife and I visited this bridge in May 2007. We had to walk north about half a mile from County Road E0760 to get to it. The approach was partially washed away, and the decking was in pretty bad shape. It was once a beautiful bridge. It was kind of sad to see it rotting away.
