Oblique View

The green roof appears to serve as a shelter for users of the riverfront bike path, to protect users from debris falling from the bridge. There is a short plate girder deck approach span above the shelter.

Swivel Shafts and Gears

It looks like this bridge hasn't been operated since the Roosevelt Administration. That would be the Teddy Roosevelt Administration. One local historian wonders why this swing bridge was even installed, this far upriver.
